Key Benefits

Auto-calculation
Custom rates
Grace periods
Clear communication

Late payments cost your business money—both the opportunity cost of tied-up cash and the administrative cost of chasing overdue balances. Late fees incentivize timely payment and compensate you for the carrying cost of unpaid invoices. FiscalInsights automates late fee calculation and application so clients are charged consistently according to your stated terms.

Configure your late fee policy in settings: choose a flat fee, a percentage of the invoice amount, or a daily/monthly interest rate. Set a grace period (typically 5-15 days after the due date) before fees kick in. Specify a maximum late fee cap if desired. Once configured, FiscalInsights applies the policy automatically to every overdue invoice without any manual intervention.

Clear communication is key to maintaining client relationships when enforcing late fees. FiscalInsights includes the late fee terms on every invoice, sends a notification when a late fee is applied, and shows the original amount and late fee separately on the updated invoice. Clients are never surprised because the terms were disclosed upfront. For disputes or one-time exceptions, you can waive late fees on individual invoices with a click.

How It Works

1Configure your late fee policy in Settings > Invoicing: rate type, grace period, and maximum cap.
2Late fee terms are displayed on every invoice so clients know the policy upfront.
3After the grace period expires, FiscalInsights calculates and applies the late fee automatically.
4Clients receive a notification showing the original amount and the late fee separately.
5Waive late fees on individual invoices when exceptions are warranted with a single click.
