Track by Cost Center

As businesses grow, understanding where money is spent at a granular level becomes critical. Company-wide expense reports don't tell you whether the marketing department or engineering department is over budget. Cost center tracking in FiscalInsights lets you allocate expenses to specific departments, locations, teams, or any organizational dimension you define.

Every transaction can be tagged with one or more cost centers. A rent payment might be split across three office locations. A software subscription might be allocated to two departments based on usage. FiscalInsights handles these allocations flexibly—by fixed amount, percentage, or headcount—and produces reports showing spending by cost center alongside the overall company view.

The drill-down capability is where the real insight lives. Start at the company level, click into a department, then into a specific cost category within that department, and finally into the individual transactions. This hierarchy lets managers at every level see the spending they're responsible for without being overwhelmed by data that isn't relevant to them. Each cost center can have its own budget, and variance tracking works at every level.
