Accurate timesheets are the foundation of fair payroll and labor law compliance. This template captures daily start and end times, deducts breaks, and calculates weekly totals with automatic overtime detection. It is designed to comply with FLSA requirements for non-exempt employees.
The PTO tracking integration means employees can see their remaining vacation and sick day balances right on their timesheet. This reduces HR inquiries and helps employees plan their time off. Managers benefit from the approval section that creates a documented trail of timesheet review.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does overtime pay kick in?
Under federal FLSA rules, overtime (1.5x regular rate) applies after 40 hours in a workweek. Some states have additional rules—California requires overtime after 8 hours in a day. This template uses the 40-hour weekly threshold by default and can be customized.
Should timesheets be submitted weekly or biweekly?
Weekly timesheets are easier to verify for accuracy and catch errors sooner. Even if payroll runs biweekly, collecting timesheets weekly gives managers a chance to review while the hours are fresh. This template uses a weekly format.
