How It Works

The FiscalInsights REST API provides programmatic access to all platform features: transactions, invoices, contacts, reports, and more. OAuth 2.0 authentication secures API access, and webhooks deliver real-time event notifications (payment received, transaction categorized, etc.) to your application endpoints.

How to Connect API Access

1Go to Settings > Developer in FiscalInsights
2Generate an API key or configure OAuth 2.0 for your application
3Review the API documentation at docs.fiscalinsights.com/api
4Make your first API call to verify authentication
5Build your custom integration using the documented endpoints

For businesses with custom software, internal tools, or unique workflow requirements, the FiscalInsights API provides full programmatic access to your financial data. Every feature available in the web interface is also available through the API, enabling unlimited customization.

The REST API follows standard conventions: JSON request and response bodies, predictable URL structures, and standard HTTP status codes. Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 for third-party applications or API keys for internal tools. Rate limits are generous for typical business use, and webhook subscriptions deliver real-time event notifications without polling.

Common API use cases include: building custom financial dashboards for internal teams, syncing financial data with proprietary business systems, creating custom invoice workflows for unique billing requirements, and building automated reporting pipelines that combine FiscalInsights data with data from other sources. The comprehensive API documentation includes code examples in Python, JavaScript, and Ruby to help developers get started quickly.
